The Qudi Mask 2 transcends the ordinary LED-lit mask by playing animations that mirror the user’s movements. A nod prompts a “Yes” animation, while shaking the head side-to-side triggers a “No” animation. Speaking activates the digital mouth, and the mask also animates the eyes and eyebrows, adding vibrancy to communication.

The designers claim that the mask is capable of displaying more than 30 unique emotions and “millions of facial expressions.” Users have the ability to customize these aspects through a mobile application, creating personalized emojis and modifying the mouth, eyes, eyebrows, and color palettes.
The Qudi Mask 2 is available in three design variations:
- Kawaii | a cute option with anime eyes.
- Robot | Cartoon version.
- XX’s | A mask with abstract eye glyphs.

The basic pixel grid of the display is designed to adapt seamlessly to various options, offering distinct aesthetics and functionality. Additionally, there are plans to create special covers for the mask that will serve not only as protection but also as a means to alter the wearer’s appearance.

The mask offers approximately three hours of use on a single charge, suitable for extended wear at social events or daily activities. The creators have initiated a new crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter, allowing for pre-orders of the Qudi Mask 2 at a discounted rate of $129. Once the campaign concludes, the retail price of the mask is expected to rise to around $199.
