PlayStation’s latest State of Play event opened with an extensive preview of Concord, the new PS5 multiplayer exclusive, showcasing nearly 10 minutes of gameplay.
Delving into the specifics, Concord is a 5v5 character-centric, first-person shooter developed by Firewalk Studios, part of PlayStation Studios, which Sony acquired in April 2023. Set in the eponymous Concord galaxy, the game draws inspiration from sci-fi art, anime, and film and television series, with the goal of delivering thrilling multiplayer experiences where players can delve into the galaxy and interact with its diverse characters.
Players will find themselves as part of the Freegunners, a mercenary group aboard the Northstar, clashing with rival teams in intense combat across a variety of maps and modes. Concord boasts an array of 16 unique characters, each with their own special abilities, allowing players at every level to contribute significantly to their team’s efforts.
The game’s dynamic play encourages tactical creativity, ensuring no two matches are the same. Additionally, players can look forward to cinematic shorts that expand on the narratives of the Freegunners and the broader Concord galaxy.
Concord is slated for release on August 23, 2024, as a PS5 exclusive. The game will also be available on PC from the first day of release. A beta version is scheduled for July, ahead of the official launch.
