The creators of the anticipated zombie shooter, Dying Light | The Beast, have unveiled fresh details about the game. It is set to be a comprehensive title offering over 18 hours of gameplay in its fully developed state. The developers have assured there will be no reduced mechanics or hints of inferior DLC – they are committed to preserving the signature parkour while introducing new mechanics, enriching the open world with dynamic events and Easter eggs, and incorporating varying weather conditions.
The game’s narrative will revisit the protagonist of the original, Kyle Crane, and transport him to the pastoral Castor Woods valley, a blend of tourist spots and rustic living. The expansive open world will offer numerous areas for exploration, and players can navigate faster using personal vehicles that can be upgraded.
Dying Light | The Beast’s ferocious zombies will stand apart from those in Harran and Villedor, featuring new mutant varieties (including adept jumpers) and enhanced traits for existing ones. The developers have stated that players will find safe zones equipped with beds and workbenches, and Kyle Crane’s bloodied duffel bag will serve as the inventory system.
The developers have clarified how “Dying Light | The Beast” aligns with the series’ timeline, noting that the protagonist, Kyle Crane, endures 13 years of captivity. This is a stark contrast to his fate in the “The Following” expansion. The new game’s narrative will take place after “Dying Light 2 Stay Human,” with Crane’s destiny remaining enigmatic. The developers have made a strategic decision to keep certain details under wraps, with plans to disclose more information gradually.
Dying Light | The Beast will be released on PC (Steam), PS4, PS5, X-One and Xbox X|S. The release date has not been determined yet.
