An upcoming JRPG called Runa is clearly inspired by the success of HoYoverse – at least, it makes that impression. The indie team Fennec Studio took the brightest birthmarks from such genre works as Persona 5 with bright combat menus and Genshin Impact with its colorful world, and then rolled out their creation.
Project Runa has garnered attention because it fulfills numerous criteria sought after by JRPG enthusiasts. The action takes place in a fantasy world where there is a technology called runes. Runes are used by all the inhabitants of this universe, including for routines such as cooking, but only a select few adepts are able to unleash the full power of these artifacts.
The game is based on world exploration and turn-based battles that use elemental attacks. The same emphasis on elements is implemented in solving a variety of puzzles. In addition, Runa offers activities such as fishing and farming, as well as full-fledged base building, closely related to the game’s quests.
Rune features seven members of the group, including the main character, who, as the developers promise, will be able to build a whole system of relationships with the heroes, including 15 options for romantic intimacy. The developers also promise to add weather, an advanced multiple-choice dialogue system, and other genre marks. The game’s release date is still unknown, but you can follow the project on its Steam page.
