Chinese electronics giant Xiaomi has introduced its latest innovation | a PC game emulator designed specifically for Android tablets.
This new emulator aims to bring a seamless gaming experience to Android users, allowing them to enjoy their favorite PC games on their tablets with ease. Stay ahead in the gaming world with Xiaomi’s cutting-edge technology.
Xiaomi has launched WinPlay, a proprietary utility for running full-fledged games from Steam and GOG on tablets with its Hyper OS, based on Android. Leveraging Xiaomi’s HyperCore technology, the WinPlay emulator runs Windows games seamlessly, showing only a 2.9% performance penalty on the Pad 6S Pro 12.4 tablet, as tests have confirmed.
No more complex setups—Steam account owners can simply download the official Windows application, run it in an isolated environment, and enjoy the full functionality of the game client. For those interested in using the emulator on other tablets, having a high-performance processor, fast RAM, and ample storage is crucial.
WinPlay supports multiplayer mode for up to four players, compatible with a wide range of accessories including keyboards, mice, and traditional gamepads. Touch screen controls will need adaptation for gameplay, but the software is optimized for Xbox controllers supporting haptic feedback.

Currently, the emulator is in beta, supported by the Pad 6S Pro 12.4, and features a three-tier virtualization system processing the main APIs. Consuming just 8.3 watts of power, it is energy-efficient and easy on the battery. Owners of the supported device can join the beta testing phase by updating their firmware and transferring game files manually. Note that only game launchers are supported, not other Windows applications.
While the official release date of WinPlay remains unknown, interested users can request access through the Xiaomi Community website.
