Game Informer magazine has released a 14-minute gameplay video of Elden Ring | Shadow of the Erdtree. This expansion, the largest in FromSoftware’s history, is set to launch on June 21st.
The DLC unfolds in the Shadowlands, an entirely new area where players will encounter characters such as Miquella the Merciful and Messmer the Impaler. The developers have introduced a variety of new weapons, abilities, and spells, along with multiple bosses, some of which promise to be particularly challenging.
Details from the text previews:
The game’s unveiling occurred across various venues. For instance, a Game Informer reporter was present at an event within the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, while Push Square received an invitation to a church in Paris.
The initial area of Shadow of the Erdtree resembles an expansive graveyard, as depicted in the expansion’s introductory artwork. The expansion will introduce 100 new weapons. Journalists have discussed a novel progression system linked to the Scudu Tree fragments, which players can collect to bolster their attacks and enhance damage resistance; however, these upgrades are inactive in areas from the original game.
The newly added places of grace are remnants of Miquella the Merciful. During the event, journalists encountered a boss named the Divine Beast, a colossal lion apparently controlled from within, which, in its second phase, launches lightning and ice attacks.
Additionally, the game includes a knight named Relanna, armed with dual blades, whom an IGN reporter deemed the toughest boss encountered. The open world is described as vast and remarkably varied, although the full map was not revealed to journalists. The starting point provides vistas of an expansive field dotted with ruins, a crypt, a distant large castle, and other attractions.
The game also boasts a dungeon on par with Stormscreen Castle and Morne Castle in size, featuring numerous additional pathways.
