Amazon’s film adaptation of Fallout will be released very soon, and in preparation for this event, the film crew began to share interesting details about their work on the series. So, executive producer Jonathan Nolan, who co-wrote many of his brother Christopher Nolan’s films, said that his love for games began with Fallout 3.
Nolan recalls that even the release of The Dark Knight was delayed due to the fact that he was playing the third part of the popular game series. He was constantly amazed by the atmosphere of Fallout, in which darkness and cruelty coexist with a satirical and even almost stupid mood.
Nolan also shared that open-world video games are much more difficult to adapt than books, as they take away the audience’s sense of freedom.

The producer noted that since viewers, unlike gamers, cannot make the most important decisions, the showrunners thought for a long time how to convey the free spirit of the game. In the end, they decided to do it through three main characters | the young and naïve Lucy, played by Ella Purnell, a soldier of the Brotherhood of Steel authored by Aaron Morten, and the mutated criminal Ghoul, who was brought to life by Walton Goggins.
Goggins added that we live in a very complex and chaotic time, where we can see the erosion of morality and optimism. And in that sense, Fallout reflects the world that evolves around us every day. The Fallout TV series will be available on Prime Video from April 12, and earlier this year, Bethesda’s Todd Howard revealed that some of the ideas planned for Amazon’s adaptation had to be canceled as they decided to use them for Fallout 5.
