In 2015, CD Projekt RED launched MODKit for The Witcher 3 | Wild Hunt, enabling the community to tweak certain elements of the game. However, the REDkit mod editor has emerged as a more potent tool, permitting players to craft entirely new content within the game, not just alter what’s already there.
REDkit was released for the second game, but for many years, the studio maintained that it would not be released for the third game. However, today CD Projekt has started accepting applications for the REDkit playtest on Steam. The developers have stated that the new editor utilizes the same toolkit employed by the creators of The Witcher 3, thereby offering nearly boundless possibilities for modding.

The most exciting aspect is that REDkit will be provided free of charge to all owners of the original game, enabling them to modify existing quests, animations, locations, and more. The test access will be granted in stages, and utilizing the editor requires an installed copy of the game on your computer. It’s important to note that this is a beta version of the toolkit, which might lead to issues during use.
The REDkit test will be exclusively available on Steam, yet it will be compatible with any desktop version of the game, no matter the purchase source. Additionally, CD Projekt is in the process of integrating Steam Workshop support into The Witcher 3.
