Apollo 13 | The Lost Tapes VR, a time-travel horror shooter, will be released on PS VR2 on April 17. The game is based on the story of the 1970 Apollo 13 space mission, but takes place in an alternate universe.
The CIA will assign you a covert mission to transport you to the year 2170, at a Martian military outpost. The operation will unveil gateways to “frightening dimensions,” and the entities residing there must be prevented from entering Earth.
Official Description:
The rest of the world believes in false history… that Apollo 13 was a lunar exploration mission with a “technical glitch” involving a faulty oxygen tank that left the crew fighting for their lives while they tried to get home. But you’re the operative chosen for this mission, and you know the truth.
We’ve been on the moon for decades, and now the CIA is ready to carry out its top-secret mission of traveling back in time 200 years to a planned military and research outpost on Mars in the year 2170. If something goes wrong, the audience is ready for a simple explanation that you didn’t come home because of a “technical glitch” in the performance.
The plot of Apollo 13 | The Lost Tapes VR is somewhat reminiscent of Titanic | A Space Between, another timed horror game that was released on Quest in February 2024. In it, the hero travels back in time to the Titanic, travels around the ship and investigates the fate of a woman named Diana, who is stuck on the liner on a doomed cruise.
