The remake of the legendary Knights of the Old Republic game still stubbornly refuses to die, judging by a recent conversation with the head of the Sabre studio, Matthew Karch. The CEO personally came out and said that the troubled project is still “alive and well.”
Even those people who have never played the original and are generally cool about remakes already know about this story. The long-suffering project migrated from the Aspyr studio to Sabre after the disastrous demo version was shown to the heads of Lucasfilm and Sony in July 2022. Embracer then sold the studio to Sabre, but even after that, the remake somehow survived.

Therefore, Karch’s comments seem to be the surest sign that the project will be clung to until the very end, although such a commitment to a particular game is not entirely clear. However, the tone of the CEO seems irritated when he brushes off game journalists with a succinct “it’s clear and obvious that we’re working on this.”
Of course, it would be interesting to see what modern technology can do with the classic party RPG, especially in light of the fact that interest in the genre has been revived this decade. However, it is unlikely that the final result will wash away the traces of the experience, since such problems invariably affect the game from the very start of development.
