Bandai Namco, the publisher, along with Reflector Entertainment, the developers, have unveiled a review trailer for the forthcoming action-adventure game Unknown 9 | Awakening, featuring the star of The Witcher series.
Ana Chalotra, known for her role as Yennefer in the Netflix series The Witcher, takes on the lead role in the game. She portrays Haruna, a girl with the extraordinary ability to access a parallel dimension. This ability grants her unique powers, such as entering the minds of enemies, evading bullets, vanishing from view, and harnessing shadow energy in combat.
Reflector Entertainment has released a comprehensive five-minute gameplay overview trailer for Unknown 9 | Awakening. The trailer provides insights into the story, introduces the protagonist Haruna, showcases new gameplay footage, and expands on the game’s extensive narrative universe.
Bandai Namco has big plans for the Unknown 9 universe
Unknown 9 | Awakening will include an expanded universe with podcasts, a miniseries, and comics that explore the stories of minor characters from the game.
Each release of Unknown 9 is designed to be an entry point, yet Awakening stands as a key component. Initially, Reflector intended to unveil additional transmedia products prior to the game’s launch to increase awareness of the independent IP. However, Bandai Namco opted to postpone all releases until the game’s completion.
There is always a risk to transverses | the cost of entry. But Awakening “won’t be a €80 game,” and most of the transmedia content will be free.
Bandai Namco’s acquisition of Reflector Entertainment signifies the publisher’s commitment to developing the complete narrative of Unknown 9, encompassing all aspects of transmedia storytelling.

Bandai Namco Content Director Hervé Hoerdt also revealed Each game is expected to have a development cycle of approximately four years, providing some flexibility depending on the reception to Awakening and its transmedia components. The publisher, known for its fighting games like Tekken, action RPGs like Elden Ring, Japanese RPGs with the Tales Of series, and horror with The Dark Pictures Anthology, anticipates that the release of Unknown 9 will distinguish the company in the fiercely competitive and often nebulous realm of “action-adventure.”
Unknown 9 | Awakening is scheduled for release on October 18 for PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
