Last week, Legendary Pictures released the first teaser trailer for the film Minecraft, which has already faced significant criticism from fans. Many have voiced complaints about the graphics and character designs.
The film adaptation of the video game “Minecraft” has received 1.2 million dislikes on YouTube within four days of its release on the official Warner Bros. Pictures channel. The dislikes continue to increase, while the likes remain unchanged.
Viewers have expressed their discontent in the comments section. Some criticize the mix of Minecraft’s cubic world with real actors, others disapprove of Jack Black as Steve, and some are upset by the unrealistic animal faces. It is uncertain if the studio will respond to this backlash.
Nonetheless, an enthusiast known as Alumio took it upon themselves to address these issues and released their own version of the trailer.
The video replicates the frames of the original but is rendered in game-style graphics. Notably, users have shown a preference for the fan-made version over the official film adaptation.
“I don’t understand why the film itself isn’t animated in the same way,” stated NathanielBandy.
“This is already a thousand times better. This is what a Minecraft movie should look like,” commented NickyViolet-d7x.
“Bro, you just outdid a Minecraft movie trailer without any budget,” remarked MechaLEON-P25.
The global premiere of the “Minecraft” film is set for April 4, 2025. Starring Jack Black, Jason Momoa, Danielle Brooks, Emma Myers, Sebastian Eugene Hansen, and Jennifer Coolidge, the movie is directed by Jared Hess.
