The Biohazard Declassified page on social network X has released new purported details about the Resident Evil remake. The updated version of the iconic horror game is reportedly under the working title Biohazard: Resident Evil 1.
According to the source, the gameplay of the Resident Evil remake will be more deliberate than that of the Resident Evil 2 remake, with a focus on creating an intensely frightening experience that discourages players from rushing through areas.
Furthermore, the game’s narrative will be an expansion of the original 1996 Resident Evil. The visual aspects will also undergo changes; the remake is set to feature substantial enhancements in graphics and lighting, along with the introduction of a new third-person camera system.
Instead of a fixed camera, a new third-person perspective will be introduced, designed to accommodate the confined spaces of the mansion and its environs.
Zombies in the remake are said to be more resilient than those in the Resident Evil 2 remake, and they will be encountered less frequently. This change has allowed the developers to craft a unique model for each zombie, eliminating any repetition.
The return of Crimsonheads, the mutated, more aggressive zombies with a distinctive red hue from the 2002 remake, is anticipated.
The narrative of the game is expected to be greatly expanded, incorporating elements from other recent Resident Evil remakes.
Lastly, the original pre-rendered backgrounds will be replaced with a fully three-dimensional environment, enhanced by cutting-edge visuals and a sophisticated lighting system.
The first Resident Evil game debuted in 1996, initially for Sony’s PlayStation console, before expanding to PC and other platforms. In 2002, Capcom launched a remake for the GameCube, which subsequently became available for multiple console generations.
According to insider Daniel Richtman, the Resident Evil remake is planned to be released in time for the franchise’s 30th anniversary in 2026.
